A panel of alumnae who were student-athletes at Nazareth returned to campus in March 2026 to tell today’s women athletes how sports have influenced their lives.

Among the benefits they’ve gained: Strength through struggles. A community and friends for life. Experience setting goals and working to achieve them — and seeing you get out of it what you put into it.

“It’s shaped every part of my professional career,” said Samantha Peebles ’18, ’20 (basketball and soccer/communication and media). “It’s work ethic. It’s discipline. It’s team collaboration.”

Panelists also included Erin Stacer Briganti '02 (lacrosse/accounting) and Kristen Prohaska '21 '23G (soccer/physical therapy).

Nazareth has 16 women’s teams and 306 female athletes (as of the fall 2025 census). By comparison, there are 12 men’s teams and 236 male athletes at Nazareth.

Current student-athletes said they already see benefits of being in sports. "It's helped my mental health so much," said Ava Campeau '29, a cross-country runner since 7th grade. "It's helped me build confidence."
